Adorable Shelter Dog Spends A Year Watching Others Get Adopted While She’s Left Behind
Annie is a seven-year-old dog with a heart full of love, but every time someone visits the shelter and walks past her, she feels her hope slip away just a little more.
She doesn’t ask for much—just a home, a family, and someone to hug every day.
A Long Wait For Love
Annie has been living at the Mendocino Coast Humane Society in Fort Bragg, California, for over a year.

Before that, she came from Mendocino County Animal Care Services. The transition and the loud shelter environment left her feeling anxious and unsure.
But when the staff and volunteers stop by to show her affection, everything changes.
Annie’s whole face lights up. Her tail wags, and her eyes sparkle with joy. She kisses the hands that pet her, as if to say thank you.

Everyone at the shelter adores her and wonders why she’s still waiting. They’ve watched so many dogs come and go—yet Annie stays behind, watching each one leave, hoping her turn will come.
Her friends at the shelter couldn’t take it anymore. They began sharing her story online, hoping the right person would finally see her.
“Adopt Annie! This newly seven year old large mixed breed is seventy pounds of pure love…” they wrote in a heartfelt Facebook post.
They knew Annie just needed someone to give her a real chance.
Still Dreaming, Still Hoping
Annie may be getting older, but her heart is as young and full of love as ever.
She’ll need a caring adopter who’s willing to continue her vet visits—she has a chronic eye issue and some dental problems that need attention.

Even so, she doesn’t let it bring her down.
In a video posted by the shelter, Annie is seen smiling, her eyes filled with hope. After all this time, she hasn’t given up on finding the home she deserves.
Annie is ready. She’s ready to give all the love she’s been holding in. She’s ready for walks, for cuddles, for lazy afternoons curled up beside someone who loves her just as much as she loves them.
