Senior Dog Fills The Streets With Pure Joy As He Reunites With His Old Friend

Errol, a sweet senior Basset Hound, could hardly contain his excitement when he saw his old friend, Romeo, after so much time apart.

Romeo, Errol’s neighbor, came into his life when Errol’s mom, Jenna, looked after him while Romeo’s parents were away. From that moment on, the two dogs became inseparable.

“Whereas Errol loves all other dogs, Romeo can be a bit picky, so I’ve always loved that Romeo decided to be Errol’s friend,” Errol’s mom Jenna shared with The Dodo.

As the years passed and both dogs became seniors, their playdates became less frequent, though they still cherished their occasional walks and time together.

A Long-Awaited Reunion

When Errol fell ill and needed surgery, it took him six long weeks to recover. During that time, he couldn’t see Romeo, and the absence was felt deeply.

But one day, Jenna decided it was time to take Errol for a much-needed walk around the neighborhood.

While riding in his wagon, Errol’s excitement suddenly spiked. He began to wiggle and let out a joyful howl, “A-wooo! A-wooo!”

Jenna was initially puzzled but soon saw Romeo approaching from the other direction.

“Part of what made that reunion so special is how excited Romeo was to see Errol,” Jenna said. “Errol is always excited to see his friends, but Romeo sometimes plays it cool. This time was different — they were both clearly very excited to see each other, and it was so heartwarming.”
