Sad Pup Can’t Hide His Pain After His Family Brought Him Back To The Shelter

Heartbroken Pup Returned To Shelter Longs For A Second Chance

For shelter dogs, the journey to find a forever home can be filled with ups and downs.

Andy’s story is one of resilience, hope, and a longing for love after facing abandonment and heartbreak.

A Painful Past

Andy, a sweet pup, was rescued from the streets and taken to Little Guild, a limited-admission shelter in West Cornwall, Connecticut.

Before arriving, Andy had endured a life of hardship, including a traumatic experience with a tie-out and runner system that left him with severe injuries.

We do not have many details on what happened early in his life, but whatever it was, it wasn’t great. This probably led to him not trusting people right away,” said Kelsey Turick, an animal care specialist at Little Guild, speaking to Newsweek.

Andy’s early experiences made him wary of strangers. Around unfamiliar faces, he became anxious and defensive, but when he was with people he trusted, he transformed into a loving and loyal companion.

Andy is a little on the timid side at first, but once you earn his trust, he will shower you with affection and loyalty,” Kelsey added.

The Unfortunate News

Despite his initial adoption, Andy’s journey took a painful turn when he was returned to the shelter for being too reactive to people.

Back in his kennel, Andy withdrew further, trembling when strangers approached and silently observing passersby without hope.

Though he warms up to people over time, many don’t stay long enough to see his true personality shine through. Kelsey, however, remains confident in Andy’s ability to find his perfect match.

We love him so much and really hope his forever family is out there. It is going to take someone patient and understanding to work with him on his reactivity and initial fear of new people,” she explained.

Kelsey believes that Andy’s ideal home will offer him guidance, patience, and love, helping him leave his dark past behind.

With a trusted handler, he can be a very wiggly, happy-go-lucky boy. He loves to cuddle and play with toys. His ideal home will provide Andy with the guidance he needs and be ready to be rewarded with devotion and love. He is absolutely amazing with other dogs and would thrive with another dog in the home,” she said.

May Andy find his forever family soon—a family who sees beyond his past and gives him the life he truly deserves.
