Rescuers Save Stray Mama Dog And Her Pups From Abandoned House

For two weeks, the Stray Rescue of St. Louis team received calls about a mama dog wandering the streets. But every time they arrived, she vanished.

Sensing danger, this protective mama kept her distance, especially while caring for her pups.

Despite the challenge, rescuers Donna and Natalie persisted. Their dedication paid off one day when Donna finally spotted the elusive dog.

“I finally spotted her and just followed her down a sidewalk,” Donna shared with The Dodo. “But it wasn’t an option to just pick her up and not find the puppies.”

Following the dog to an abandoned house, Donna found her nursing her puppies on a staircase. Understanding the delicate situation, she waited until the mama dog finished before making her move, speaking gently to gain some trust.

Once the puppies were done nursing, Donna called Natalie for backup. Together, they managed to get a leash on the protective mama and guided her to their car.

“The puppies did end up going to foster, but mom went right into a home,” Donna stated, happily.
