This Poor Dog Endured 10 Years Tied Near A Dangerous Cliff In Heartbreaking Neglect
Maru spent ten long years tied up in a remote spot near a risky cliff, forgotten and neglected.
Despite it all, he never lost hope that one day his life would change for the better.

Maru’s life began with promise, but at just a few months old, he was sold to a new owner who chained him outside.

For most of his life, Maru was confined to a small, isolated structure, dangerously close to a cliff. He lived in constant peril, his life at risk every day.
Rescue workers later revealed the harsh conditions of Maru’s existence: a flimsy roof made of metal for shelter, exposed to rain and cold, and forced to relieve himself in the same spot.

The rescue team, upon hearing his story, rushed to save him but were deeply saddened that he had spent most of his senior years in such neglect.
“Over the years, we‘ve encountered several abandoned dogs, but this location was one of the worst. The small structure, which seemed like a house to the dog, was on the verge of a cliff,” they shared on Instagram.
A Sweet, Surprising Reception
When the rescue team approached Maru, they feared he might be aggressive or fearful after years of isolation.
But instead, he greeted them with a wagging tail and a happy smile.

Despite his hardships, Maru was overjoyed to finally have human companionship, as if he was expressing years of loneliness and longing for affection.
The rescue team took Maru to their facility, where his transformation began.
He was nervous during the car ride, but his worries melted away when he arrived and was fed a large bowl of food.

Though his fur made him appear larger than he was, Maru was emaciated, hungry, and weak. His tangled fur was so thick, it looked like armor, hiding his frailty.
Grooming Reveals The Heartbreak Of His Past
After a much-needed grooming session, Maru’s true condition was revealed.
He was small and underweight, needing at least 15 more pounds to be healthy.
