Street Dog Devastated As She Watches Her Best Friend Get Adopted Without Her
At the end of 2023, a sweet street dog named Bonnie faced some tough moments in Oklahoma City.
Found wandering the streets with her inseparable friend Clyde, Bonnie’s world was turned upside down when they were taken to a shelter, and even more so when Clyde was adopted, leaving her alone.
Loyal Friends Through Thick And Thin
Bonnie and Clyde were rescued together by Stillwater Animal Welfare in Oklahoma.

Unlike most rescues that adjust to shelter life and separate naturally, these two refused to be apart. Their loyalty and affection for each other amazed the shelter staff, as they remained side by side through everything.
Picked up from the streets in poor condition, both dogs were suffering from heartworms and needed significant medical attention.

Thankfully, they responded well to treatment and soon started showing their loving personalities to everyone at the shelter.
Despite their rough past, they became known as shelter sweethearts, showering the staff with affection and gratitude.
But while things started looking up, their bond would soon face an unexpected challenge.
Heartbreak Strikes When Clyde Is Adopted
Bonnie was making great progress in her first month at the shelter.
She had opened up, and the shelter shared on Facebook, “Bonnie came to us as a stray with her brother and was never claimed...She is about 45 pounds, heartworm positive, but good with other dogs and loves food.“
Then, the unexpected happened: Clyde found a forever home. He was adopted by a wonderful family, leaving Bonnie all alone at the shelter.

His departure crushed her. Bonnie completely shut down, retreating into her kennel and showing no interest in her surroundings.
She longed for her best friend, and the shelter staff saw just how deeply she was affected.
“Bonnie is all alone since her brother got adopted, and she definitely misses having a sibling to cuddle with,” they wrote.
A New Beginning Just In Time
Bonnie’s sorrow didn’t go unnoticed.
As December continued, her story touched the heart of a kind woman named Brayden Routh, who visited the shelter with the hope of meeting Bonnie.

From the moment they met, it was clear that a special bond was forming.
It seemed as though Bonnie had been waiting for Brayden all along. The pair clicked instantly, and soon Bonnie was on her way to her new home.
Finally, Bonnie had a family to call her own.

She also gained a big sister, a Blue Heeler named Tally, who helped her settle into her new life.
In just a few days, Bonnie transformed from a heartbroken pup into a playful, happy dog, eager to embrace her new adventures.
A Happily Ever After
Bonnie’s new life was filled with love, companionship, and excitement.
She met new friends and quickly became the beloved darling of her family. Her true personality, which had been hidden behind heartbreak, shone brightly once again.

“She’s in great hands! Tuckered out from a big day of making new friends,” Brayden wrote on Facebook, thrilled with how Bonnie had adjusted.
Once a lonely, heartbroken dog missing her brother, Bonnie is now living her best life. She’s surrounded by love, enjoying every moment of her new chapter.
