Dog Was Dumped By His Family Because They No Longer Wanted Him

Hendrix was found wandering the streets, alone and unwanted.

Luckily, he was microchipped so the rescue team from Happy Staffie Rescue reached out to his owner. Sadly, the owner didn’t want him back, abandoning him for good.

The shelter had no choice but to schedule him for euthanasia that very afternoon, but they shared his story on Facebook, hoping against hope to find him a new home.

Kay, who had recently lost her first dog, saw Hendrix’s picture and felt an instant connection.

“He looked so lost and bewildered, and I just knew that he was going to be mine,” she said to GeoBeats Animals.

Without hesitation, she made the two-and-a-half-hour journey to meet him.

Hendrix Needed Time To Trust Again

When Hendrix bounded through the door, Kay knew he was the one.

However, it was clear he had been through a lot. He was very skinny and appeared to have been on the streets for weeks. He was also quite flinchy and unsure.

The first few nights were tough.

Hendrix refused to sleep in the bed Kay had made for him, so he ended up in her room. Since then, he has never left her side, becoming a constant source of comfort and companionship.

A Loving Companion

Hendrix is affectionate and loves to be close to Kay, often placing his paws on her for reassurance.

Despite his rough past, he has a big smile, especially when he’s eating carrots or playing outside.

“He’s just a constant source of emotional support. He gets me more than some people do. He knows when I’m feeling off and comforts me.” Kay shared with GeoBeats Animals.

Hendrix has a few health issues, such as calluses on his elbows from sleeping on hard concrete. Despite this, he remains incredibly loving and gentle with everyone he meets.

Although people sometimes misjudge Hendrix because of his appearance, thinking he is aggressive, he just wants to be loved.

“It’s quite sad because all he wants to do is for people to say hello to him and give him some love.” Kay said to GeoBeats Animals.

Kay feels that she and Hendrix were meant to be together.

“He’s so beautiful. Who would abandon him? It makes me feel even more like we were meant to be together.”
