Young Boy Leaves His Dog In A Box Outside A Shelter For The Saddest Reason

Rene, a sweet Pittie, found his way to safety thanks to the kindest little boy named Andres.
At just 12 years old, Andres made an incredibly hard choice to say goodbye to his best friend—not because he wanted to, but because he had no other choice.
With the help of his mom, he gently placed Rene in a cardboard box and left him outside a local rescue center.
At first glance, it might have seemed like Rene had been abandoned. But the truth behind it touched everyone’s heart.
The Note That Said It All
When the rescue staff found Rene outside, they were confused—until they spotted a handwritten note left beside him.

What they read brought them to tears.
The note said: “My mom and I decided to leave my dog in your hands, hiding it from my dad because he is thinking about selling him. But he mistreats and kicks him. One day he kicked him so hard that he hurt his tail. I hope you can help and take care of him.”

Andres had written that his father wanted to sell Rene and had been mistreating him, even kicking him hard enough to injure his tail.
Not wanting to see his beloved dog suffer anymore, Andres made the brave decision to hide Rene from his dad and bring him somewhere safe.

Beside the note, he also left Rene’s favorite stuffed toy—a little teddy bear. It was Andres’ way of making sure his dog didn’t feel alone, even after he was gone.
Healing, One Day At A Time
Once Rene was brought inside, the rescue team gave him a full checkup.
His tail was indeed injured, likely from the abuse described in the letter. But despite what he’d been through, Rene’s spirit hadn’t been broken.

Thanks to Andres’ brave act, Rene is now in a safe place and on the road to recovery. He’s been placed in a foster home surrounded by other dogs, and he’s already doing much better.
The staff describes him as a total sweetheart—gentle, playful, and full of love. He does best with bigger dogs and adults, but with the right introduction, he can get along with anyone.

When the time is right, Rene will be ready to move into a forever home. One where he’ll never have to fear being hurt again. One filled with kindness and love—just like the love Andres showed him.
Thanks to a young boy’s selfless act, this pup now has a second chance at life.
And when Rene finally finds his forever family, he’ll carry with him the memory of the little boy who loved him enough to let him go.
