Black Lab Surprises Everyone With Her One Of A Kind Puppies

Zola is a 4-year-old black Lab who just became a mom to ten puppies—all in three different colors.
Her babies came in yellow, chocolate, and black, making her litter something really special.
A Dream In Three Shades
Tina and Martin Davis, Zola’s owners, have extensive experience in breeding Labradors, starting in 2006.
Over the years, they have successfully bred black, chocolate, and yellow Labs, but their recent goal was to produce a single litter containing all three colors.

They have consistently collaborated with Wylanbriar Kennels for stud services. Diana Stevens, the kennel owner, has worked closely with them to develop a line of stud dogs capable of producing mixed-color litters.
One of these studs is Rocks, a 3-year-old Black Labrador with genes for all three colors.
“Only a tiny handful of Labradors have the genetic predisposition to produce all three colors, and even less are mated to a partner dog to make this happen,” Diana noted.
It took over ten years of selective breeding to combine the right genes from both sides to produce a healthy litter with diverse colors.
A Milestone Years In The Making
Zola and Rocks were paired with the hope of achieving this long-term goal.
Their efforts were rewarded when Zola delivered ten puppies: two yellow, three chocolate, and five black.

“We’d planned to produce a boy and a girl capable of giving all three colors since the day we started breeding, and now we’ve finally done it,” Tina and Martin shared.
All the puppies have already been adopted and will join their new families when they are old enough.
Although the outcome was joyful, Zola’s pregnancy was challenging, requiring a C-section. Because of this, Tina and Martin decided that Zola would no longer be bred.

However, 50% of her puppies carry the genes necessary to produce all three colors in the future if desired.
Tina and Martin are delighted with the success and are excited to continue their breeding program with this exceptional genetic line.
By reaching their goal, Tina and Martin have established a foundation for producing beautiful, multi-colored Labrador litters, and they are extremely proud of this achievement.
