Exhausted Mama Dog And Her Puppies Were All Alone On The Roadside When A Woman Spotted Them

While driving on a busy Texas road, rescuer Kristin Erwin spotted movement in the bushes and quickly pulled over.

She found a tired mama dog lying beside the road with her six puppies, trying to stay dry in the rain. The pups were playfully rolling in the grass, unaware of the danger.

The mother looked up at Kristin with eyes full of sadness, and Kristin could feel how heartbroken she was.

A Family That Needed Saving

Kristin knew she had to help them.

She later found out that animal control had been trying to rescue this dog family for over a year. But the mama was scared of people and always managed to escape.

When Kristin tried to get closer, the dog and her puppies ran off. So she quietly followed them, keeping her distance.

Mom was skittish of people, but she tried her best to keep them safe,” Kristin wrote on TikTok.

Luckily, someone had left a crate nearby. The whole family went inside it, and Kristin carefully closed the door behind them.

Finally, they were safe. Kristin felt a huge sense of relief.

But since the door wouldn’t stay closed, she sat by the crate and called her friend for help.

The mama dog looked lost and unsure. She had no idea her life was about to change for the better.

Slowly Learning to Trust

Kristin brought the little family home.

That first day, the mama dog didn’t trust her and kept giving her worried looks. But Kristin noticed something hopeful—she allowed her to touch and care for her puppies.

She lets me handle her chunky babies and change their bedding. These are all good signs. She’ll come around, poor girl just needs time to trust,” Kristin shared on Facebook.

The puppies were cozy and happy to be in a safe, warm place with their mom. They snuggled up to her, showing her how much they loved her.

In the beginning, the mama didn’t want to leave the crate or go outside at all.

But Kristin didn’t give up. She spent time with her, spoke gently, and even fed her by hand to help her feel safe.

Then, a small miracle—she wagged her tail. Soon after, she let Kristin cuddle her.

As their bond grew stronger, Kristin was able to carry her outside.

A New Beginning

Once the mama dog felt safe with Kristin, everything changed.

She no longer looked like a dog full of fear and pain. Now, she smiled and soaked up the love.

She was so tired and ready to be helped. Now we can celebrate all her accomplishments and tell her how loved she is,” Kristin said.

Forgotten Coast Animal Rescue in Houston, Texas, is now taking care of this brave mama and her puppies.

When they’re ready, they’ll be looking for forever homes.
