Sick Shelter Pup In Agony Makes An Unbelievable Recovery Thanks To Amazing People

Penny had no idea how much her life was about to change.
Found wandering the streets of Las Vegas in rough shape, this sweet girl was just looking for someone to notice her.
Itchy And Alone
Rescuers brought Penny to The Animal Foundation in Las Vegas, and the team was heartbroken by what they saw.
Penny was suffering from a severe case of mange that had left her in constant pain.

“Her skin is so severely affected, it bleeds. She has hair loss, open sores and scabs, and thick, crusty patches of skin,” the rescue shared on Facebook.
Every movement hurt.

“It hurts to stand. It hurts to play. It hurts to do just about anything a dog would do,” they added.
But Penny wasn’t giving up. Despite everything, she was still loving, gentle, and incredibly sweet. The staff even gave her a nickname: “17 lbs of joy.”
She was treated with medicated baths, antibiotics, and lots of love — and her healing journey began.
A Home Full Of Love
Just six days later, the shelter proudly posted a photo showing how far Penny had come.
Her skin was healing, and she was feeling much better. But the best news came shortly after: Penny found a foster home!

Jeramy, her foster dad, had seen her story on the news and felt an instant pull to help. It broke his heart, and he knew she belonged with them.

His wife, Mary, and their two kids welcomed Penny with open arms.

“She spends her days running around with the foster family’s children, and they are in love with her!” the shelter wrote on Facebook. “She is a cuddle bug who loves sleeping next to the family’s slippers and laying in the sun.”
The more time they spent together, the more it became clear — Penny wasn’t just a foster dog. She was family.

Jeramy and Mary decided to officially adopt her, making her a permanent part of their home.
“Thanks to everyone who generously donated to her care, Penny is getting the lifesaving second chance she deserves, and she definitely hit the jackpot with her new family,” The Animal Foundation said in their final update.
