Terrified Shelter Dog Who Wouldn’t Let Go Of A Worker’s Leg Gets The Adoption He Deserved

Alone, heartbroken, and trembling with fear, a shelter pup desperately held onto the only comfort he had—a worker’s leg.

A Frightened Pup In Need Of Love

Andy Cohen isn’t just the name of a famous talk show host—it’s also the name of a sweet Pittie mix who found himself abandoned at the Tift County Animal Shelter in Tifton, Georgia.

Along with three other dogs, Andy Cohen was surrendered in November 2023 when his owner, a truck driver, could no longer care for them.

“They were heartbroken when they arrived, all huddled together and scared. Andy Cohen was shy, crying and feeling abandoned,” said Leah Robinson, the shelter’s rescue coordinator, to Newsweek.

Terrified and overwhelmed, Andy sought comfort in the only place he could—by clinging to the leg of a shelter worker, refusing to let go.

To raise awareness and encourage adoptions, the shelter shared a video of Andy’s heartbreaking plea for love. His sad eyes and desperate hug quickly captured the internet’s attention.

A Miracle For Thanksgiving

Recognizing how much Andy struggled in the shelter, the staff made the decision to transfer him to their sister organization, Waldo’s Rescue Pen in New York City.

“We wanted him to have a fresh start with a family that loves him,” Robinson shared.

And that’s exactly what happened.

Waldo’s Rescue Pen posted Andy’s story online, and within days, he found his forever home—just in time for Thanksgiving.

Now renamed Buddy, this once-heartbroken pup had the best reason to be thankful.

“He is now named Buddy and living his best life with his family in NY. We are so happy for Buddy and his family! Thank you for choosing Waldo’s Rescue,” the rescue group announced in a joyful update.

Buddy is thriving in his new home, where he has a loving family and even a furry sibling to keep him company.
