At first, this gentle pup thought it had to be some kind of mistake. She tried to chase after the truck, desperate to catch up—but her body gave out, and she collapsed on the road.

Even then, she didn’t stop trying. She crawled forward, weak and sick, until she couldn’t move anymore.

Rescuers saw her struggling and rushed over.

They were shocked to see her belly so large it looked ready to burst, yet her ribs and spine stuck out as if she hadn’t eaten in days.

At first, they thought she was pregnant. But they quickly realized something else was going on.

Once at the vet, the truth came out—her swollen belly wasn’t from pregnancy. It was filled with fluid, likely caused by liver failure.

And as if that wasn’t enough, she also had a painful, infected wound on her leg, making it hard for her to walk.

Despite everything, she stayed calm and kind.

The Fight To Heal

Now in safe hands, the pup was finally able to rest and eat. She devoured the food given to her and prepared for treatment.

The vet team got to work. They drained her stomach over and over again—removing over a gallon of fluid in total.

Once that was done, she began her recovery journey. With medication, close monitoring, and lots of care, her body slowly started to respond.

After a month and a half, she was well enough to leave the clinic.

The rescuer who had cared for her most closely couldn’t let her go. She had fallen in love with this brave, gentle soul and decided to give her a home.

She named her Azalea.

A New Life Full Of Joy
