Dog Missing For Weeks Is Ecstatic To Reunite With Her Family

Ashley Was Missing For Two Weeks

Ashley, a Siberian Husky mix from Savannah, Georgia, went missing when her pet sitter forgot to lock the door.

She ran away, and for over two weeks, her owner, Brittney Novickis McCarthy, searched tirelessly with the help of friends, family, and the entire community.

Just when hope was dwindling, Brittney received a text from Hailey Lingo, an advocate for lost and found dogs. Hailey believed that a dog named Kit, available for adoption at Halifax Humane Society in Daytona Beach, Florida, might be Ashley.

The picture of Kit looked exactly like Ashley, so despite the shelter being almost 300 miles away, they decided to go.

A Joyful Reunion That Went Viral

Brittney and her family rushed to the shelter, and as soon as Ashley saw them, she started jumping and barking with joy. Her tail wagged like a propeller, leaving no doubt it was their beloved Ashley.

“It was crazy that someone found a picture of her and was in a shelter about 300 miles away. We couldn’t be more excited that we found her. It was actually a bit more surreal,” Brittney told The Dodo.

Back home in Georgia, Ashley was microchipped to prevent another disappearance.

The family’s home was filled with joy as Ashley reunited with her siblings, bringing back the lively energy they had missed.
