Couple Shocked To Discover Foster Dog Pregnant With Tons Of Puppies

When a kind-hearted couple decided to foster Kaya, a sweet dog slated to be euthanized at a shelter, they had no idea what they were signing up for.

Indeed, shortly after her adoption, the female Pittie revealed a huge litter, giving birth to no fewer than 16 puppies!

An Unexpected Surprise

Kaya had been abandoned on a farm and was extremely underweight when she arrived at RainCoast Dog Rescue. The couple welcomed her into their home, giving her a chance at a new life she was about to be euthanized.

Initially, Kaya’s rapid weight gain seemed like a result of overfeeding. However, a trip to the vet revealed a surprising truth: Kaya was pregnant.

This news was a huge shock for the couple. They anticipated a normal-sized litter, but as Kaya’s belly continued to grow, they realized this was no ordinary pregnancy.

Kaya Delivered Much More Puppies Than They Thought

Kaya went into labor early one morning. What they thought would be a quick process turned into a marathon of puppy deliveries.

Over two and a half days, Kaya gave birth to a whopping 16 puppies!

Although two were stillborn, the couple was overjoyed that the remaining 14 were healthy and strong.

The next few weeks were a whirlwind of activity. Kaya, now a proud and loving mother, took excellent care of her large brood.

The couple took shifts throughout the night to ensure all the puppies were fed and safe. The puppies, affectionately called “little beans,” were full of energy and quickly learned from their mom, especially how to dig holes in the yard!
