Adorable Abandoned Senior Pup With Matted Fur Looks Totally Different After His Makeover

When Chewie’s family moved out of their rental home, they left someone important behind—their eight-year-old dog.

Alone and confused, Chewie had no one to care for him, no warm bed, no gentle voice, and no help for his growing health problems.

But his luck changed when kind rescuers spotted him and decided he deserved much better.

A Makeover With Love

Once he arrived at the shelter, Chewie met Mel, a gentle and kind groomer who was heartbroken by the state he was in.

Covered in thick mats and dirt, Chewie looked like he hadn’t been cared for in a very long time.

Mel got to work right away, carefully trimming the heavy mats around his face and body, being extra cautious not to hurt him in case of hidden wounds or irritated skin.

To everyone’s surprise, beneath the tangled mess of fur was a very round belly. Chewie was extremely overweight—a clear sign he hadn’t been properly looked after.

Even more heartbreaking was the condition of one of his eyes, which was ulcerated—possibly from an injury or past trauma.

Despite everything he had gone through, Chewie stayed calm and sweet throughout the entire grooming session.

Mel bathed him, dried him off, trimmed his nails, and even gave him a neat little mustache. He never fussed, never growled—just quietly soaked in the kindness he had long been missing.

Mel kept reminding him what a good boy he was, and Chewie seemed to understand.

A New Chapter Begins

By the end of his spa day, Chewie didn’t just look different—he felt different too.

That’s when Frosted Faces Foundation, a nonprofit rescue based in Ramona, California, stepped in. Moved by his story and gentle spirit, they brought Chewie into their care.

Now, he spends his days surrounded by love and support, enjoying life while waiting for the forever home he’s always deserved.

Chewie may have been left behind once—but now, he’s surrounded by people who will make sure that never happens again.
