A Loving Mama Dog Spent Three Years In Shelter As No One Wants To Take Her Home
Kylie is one of those shelter pups who knows all too well the sting of disappointment. Time after time, she’s been overlooked, but she still holds onto hope.
More than anything, Kylie dreams of meeting a family who will finally give her the love she deserves.
Kylie’s Heartbreaking Journey
Kylie, a beautiful and loving dog, knows all too well what it’s like to be overlooked.
Once part of a family, she lived on a farm where life seemed good until her pregnancy became complicated.
Her owners couldn’t afford the medical care she needed for a C-section, so they surrendered her to the Spokane Humane Society in Washington, hoping she would get the help she required.
Kylie’s puppies were healthy and soon found loving homes, but Kylie was left behind, confused and heartbroken, wondering why no one came for her.
Transferring To Another Shelter
In an effort to increase her chances of finding a forever family, Kylie was transferred to the Benton-Franklin Humane Society in Kennewick, Washington.
There, a volunteer named Julie formed a strong bond with the sweet dog, doing her best to shower Kylie with affection.
“I’ll sit in the kennel with her and she’ll sit with me. She likes getting pets. It’s tough for her because she doesn’t get as much people time as she would like,“Julie shared with GeoBeats Animals.
But despite the love she receives from volunteers, Kylie spends most of her time in her kennel, waiting.
For 22 hours each day, Kylie stays confined, but she brightens up when she hears the staff and volunteers approaching.
Greeting them with a toy in her mouth, she wags her tail, eager to play and be loved. Julie often surprises Kylie with new toys, happy to see her tail wag and her eyes light up with joy.
“She’s so excited, otherwise they are stuck in their kennels usually for around 22 hours a day,“, Julie said.
A Lovely Dog Who Adores People
Kylie is affectionate and adores people, but her difficulty in getting along with other animals has made it challenging to find her a home.
Julie believes that this is the main reason why Kylie has been overlooked.
“I think that is 90% of the reason why she hasn’t found a home because most animal lovers have a dog or a cat. So to find someone that fits Kylie’s needs is really tough,” Julie confessed.
Though she once lived with other animals, years in the shelter have changed Kylie’s temperament.
Now, she prefers human company and loves nothing more than spending time with people.
When Julie introduced Kylie to her nieces, the dog was overjoyed, her loving nature shining through.
Waiting For Her Forever Home
Despite Kylie’s challenges, the shelter staff remains hopeful that she will eventually find the perfect family who can give her the love she deserves.
The shelter continues to care for Kylie, but what she truly longs for is a forever home.
“There’s a huge pet overpopulation problem,” Julie noted, making it even harder to find Kylie a foster or adopter.
For three long years, Kylie has waited.
She has so much love to give, and she just needs someone willing to take a chance on her. We hope that soon, Kylie will find her happy ending and finally know what it feels like to be someone’s cherished pet.
