Puppy Who Cried Nonstop At Shelter Finally Finds Happiness In New Home
Stray puppies often arrive at shelters with emotional scars, needing love and patience to heal.
Today’s story is about Lucy, a scared pup who couldn’t stop crying after being rescued and brought to the Austin Animal Center in Texas.
Showering Her With Love
Despite her constant fear, the shelter staff never stopped being gentle and kind to Lucy.
They cuddled her, offered affection, and gave her the reassurance she needed. Lucy wagged her tail in gratitude but still couldn’t stop crying.

They knew her heart would need time to heal, especially since she also had an injured leg that required special care.
When Morgan visited Lucy’s kennel, her heart broke seeing how terrified the little pup was.
“She was so terrified. We didn’t know if it was new people or having been at the shelter because we knew there had been some trauma there,” Morgan said to The Dodo.

Moved by Lucy’s fear, Morgan spoke with her girlfriend, Emily, and together they decided to foster her. But what started as a temporary arrangement quickly changed.
“So I went into this being like, ‘We’re just fostering this puppy.’ And then two minutes into having her in my arms, I was like, ‘This dog is going to be ours.’” Morgan recalled.
A New Departure In A Loving Home
Once Lucy arrived at her new home, she was bathed and cared for lovingly.

At first, she was scared of everything, even the idea of going outside. Every time her moms tried taking her for a walk, Lucy would run back indoors, too frightened to explore the world beyond.
Morgan and Emily understood that Lucy needed time to adjust.
They were patient, gradually introducing her to longer walks and helping her get used to new sounds and people. With each day, Lucy’s confidence grew, and her injured leg benefited from the gentle exercise.

Lucy was showered with love, constantly reminded how cherished she was.
She blossomed into a happy, affectionate dog who loved cuddling and lounging on the couch with her moms.
She also made an unexpected best friend, the family cat! The two became inseparable, chasing each other around and exchanging sweet kisses.
Lucy fit seamlessly into her new family, and her moms couldn’t imagine life without her.
“She is super lovey, super sweet! She’s so perfect,” Morgan gushed.
Now, Lucy is living her best life, finally experiencing the happiness she deserves.
