Cute Puppy Can’t Stop Smiling When She Realizes She’s Going To A New Home
Every dog deserves a chance to experience the warmth and love of a forever home.
For Matilda, a small stray puppy who started her life on the streets, that chance seemed far away.
But sometimes, fate steps in when we least expect it.
This is the inspiring story of how a tiny puppy with a heart full of joy captured the attention of rescuers and found herself on a journey from the cold streets to a warm embrace.
A True Gem Rescued
At just two months old, Matilda was rescued by the Douglas County Animal Shelter in Georgia.
She was infested with worms and suffering from skin infections.
Despite her rough start in life, she wagged her tail endlessly, spreading happiness to everyone around her.
Santina Sanders, one of the volunteers, couldn’t resist Matilda’s sweetness: “And she gave the most sweetest kisses. She was the cutest thing ever.”
Pibbles & More Animal Rescue, a rescue organization, saw Matilda’s charm and was determined to find her a loving home.
Beaming with Joy
The day Matilda learned she was heading to a foster home was the happiest day of her young life.
Her face beamed with joy as Teresa Bowles-Chiofalo picked her up at the shelter to drive her to her foster mom, Kerrie Rich.
During the hour-and-a-half car ride, Matilda smiled from ear to ear and wagged her tail nonstop.
Teresa was so moved by her happiness that she pulled over a few times just to cuddle her.
Matilda’s arrival at her foster home was met with excitement and love. She showered her new family with kisses and quickly bonded with her foster siblings.
Adapting to Foster Life
The only thing Matilda didn’t like was wearing a collar.
Her skin was still raw and sensitive, but it was starting to heal. Her foster mom Kerrie understood her discomfort and removed the collar immediately.
Matilda loved playing with her toys and furry siblings and even helped her human brother with his homework.
Preparing for a Forever Home
As soon as Matilda’s skin healed, she would be ready for adoption.
Kerrie knew it would be hard to let her go but recognized it as part of the fostering process.
“Once one pup is adopted, it opens a space at my house to save another, which opens another spot at the shelter.”
We’re confident that Matilda found a forever family who loves her just as much as we do.
Her infectious joy and resilience are a reminder that every dog deserves a second chance at happiness.
