Family Moves Into New Home And Finds A Shocking Surprise Waiting Inside

When new owners walked into an old abandoned building in Caribou, Maine, they were ready to start fresh with renovations.

But as they explored the place, they were shocked to find they weren’t alone.

Inside a closet, a scared little dog was locked away—weak, frightened, and all by himself.

Left To Suffer And Finally Saved

The poor pup had been trapped with no food or water. The owners were devastated and quickly called the police.

Soon, officers and members of the local humane society arrived to help and investigate the situation.

They found that the dog, a Pitbull mix, was very skinny and in urgent need of care. He had clearly been left there for a long time—the building had been empty for months.

Rescuers rushed to get him medical help.

“Once the humane society looks at him, we’ll have a better idea of whether he’s suffered any infections or serious injuries. Once we’re able to interview the owner and know the dog’s condition, we’ll have a better idea of what we might charge them with,” explained Officer Douglas Bell.

Thanks to their quick action, the dog is now safe and getting the attention he needs.

The Former Owner Faces The Consequences

Animal cruelty is taken seriously in Maine. People who abuse or neglect animals can be fined and even face jail time.

After investigating, the Caribou Police found and charged the person responsible.

The former owner is now banned from owning any animals and may face up to 364 days in jail, along with a fine of at least $500.

The Caribou Police Department shared the outcome on Facebook and thanked everyone who helped give this dog a second chance.

As they put it, “The dog is currently safe and being provided with the care he needs.”
