Family Expecting A Baby Surrender Their Dog Just Because They Were Afraid Of Her Breed

When a sweet Pit Bull named Shelly was brought to a shelter because her family was expecting a baby, she didn’t understand what was happening.

She felt heartbroken, alone, and confused.

Sadly, dogs like Shelly often get passed over, and three weeks after she arrived, the shelter added her to the list for euthanasia.

Shelly had lost all hope of finding a loving home—until someone special stepped in and gave her a second chance.

A New Beginning

Lacey, a kind woman who volunteered at the shelter, heard that Shelly was going to be put down the very next morning. She knew she had to act fast.

She had to be out of the building that day,” Lacey shared.

So, without wasting time, she welcomed Shelly into her home.

Lacey explained to Newsweek, “Unfortunately there are so many pit breeds in the shelter that are in perfectly healthy condition that get overlooked.”

She had seen it happen too many times before. But this time, she believed things could be different. Shelly just needed someone to believe in her.

We wanted to foster because I knew she could find a good home if she was just given more time,” Lacey said.

Finding Her Forever Home

At first, Lacey thought fostering would be temporary. She had just adopted another dog and wasn’t sure if adding more would be too much.

But something amazing happened.

Shelly and the new dog quickly became best friends. They were calm, friendly with people and other dogs, and formed a close bond right away.

They were bonded almost instantly,” Lacey said. “It helped that they were both extremely well-behaved and both dog- and people-friendly. So I thought it was best to just keep them together.”

And just like that, Shelly found her forever home.

Now, she’s living a joyful life surrounded by love. She’s crazy about her doggy brother and her new family. She even spreads her cheer by happily greeting every person she meets.

Today, Shelly’s life is full of fun, friendship, and adventures—just like every dog deserves.
